What's the difference between the B-cell receptor and antibodies?
Q. I don't understand what B-cell receptors are, and how they relate to antibodies. Do they have a similar structure? Are they one and the same?

A. The B-cell receptor is a transmembrane receptor protein located on the outer surface of B-cells. The receptor's binding moiety is composed of a membrane-bound antibody that, like all antibodies, has a unique and randomly-determined antigen-binding site. When a B-cell is activated by its first encounter with an antigen that binds to its receptor (its "cognate antigen"), the cell proliferates and differentiates to generate a population of antibody-secreting plasma B cells and memory B cells.

I take vitamin b tablets. Can vitamin b tablets cause any complications when my body is exposed to sun?
Q. I am curious because I am going to bali for a holiday where it will be very sunny and I will be exposed to the sun a lot. I read once that vitamin b tablets cause complication with the body if the body is exposed to a lot of sun. Is that true? I really need the info A.S.A.P.

A. Hi, That all depends on which B vitamin supplements you're taking. For example Riboflavin (Vitamin B2) is destroyed by sunlight, so if you're taking b2 supplements then a lot of exposure to sun can indeed cause some issues, however not much research has been done as yet regarding this so everything may be fine (see sources). If you're taking b complex vitamins (b6, b12, folic acid), then you shouldn't have any problems, sunlight can actually be beneficial for b12 production. If you're just taking b supplements for prophylactic reasons I wouldn't worry too much. If you have a deeper health issue then I would consult your doctor to be on the safe side.

Can I feed a 12mth old neutered b itch terrier a light diet?
Q. Or is still a bit to young. I am concerned that she may get a bit over weight as she has been done. She is very active and likes her food, will eat absolutley anything edible, but worry for when she gets a bit older she may start to fill out. She is the first b itch I have owned, all other dogs have been males, and the only one that we have had neutered. She is fed on "NUTRO" adult and or "Jameswelbeloved"adult mixed with either vegetables,pasta,rice or a small amount of tinned meat (a desert spoonful)just to take the boredom off the dry food.

A. Your b1tch has been neutered - neutered applies to either dogs or b1tches, it means neither male or female. B1tches are spayed, dogs are castrated but either operation is neutering - some people think they know everything!!! Anyway, it would be far better for your girl if you just cut down on her ordinary food - if necessary. Just feed her as normal or cut down on what she normally has if she appears to be putting on weight. Many people who have tried these "light" diets have found it makes no difference to their dog's weight anyway.
