How do you get an hourly job with a college degree?
Q. I am a english graduate from Abilene Christian University, and I am currently enrolled in graduate school. I want to get an hourly job at like wal-mart or something in order to supplement my financial aid income. However, I am concerned, that companies will not want to hire me because they don't take me seriously, or think I am overqualified, or that I am just looking to make a couple of quick checks and leave. Should I mention all of my current education? Do these things show up on background checks.? I really need help. I honestly want to be a good employee and keep making this money as i do school because I need it, Thanks.

A. I doubt they would think that. They expect a high turn over of employees in those types of positions. Plus there are tons of people who have lost there jobs and are having to apply for jobs they are over qualified for because they just need some type of income. All jobs are going to be very competitive now so you would have the upper hand in the application process because you do have a degree. Good luck and don't be worried!
